Hi! I'm Emily. Welcome to Good Medicine Nutrition!
I didn’t have a health crisis. Nothing broke down. There was nothing outwardly wrong with me. But still I felt… uncomfortable in my own skin. I suffered from depression & anxiety off & on. I leaned on alcohol, drugs & cigarettes to cope with difficult feelings, or sometimes, boredom. I leaned on food – sometimes eating too much & sometimes not eating enough. I leaned on exercise.
When I transformed my diet, my life transformed in every other aspect as well. I no longer suffered from depression or anxiety, my mood mellowed, my body weight balanced, I had more energy, I drank less, I quit smoking, I sweat less, my body odor disappeared, my skin cleared up. Why didn’t anyone tell me that these things that I thought were just a normal part of life could be remedied - significantly - through food?
The connection between food and our physical, mental & spiritual well-being is undeniable. Learning to tune into how food makes you feel, what foods work best for your body & freeing yourself from diet-culture has profound effects on your health & well-being in the long term.
I don’t preach a specific program for my clients. Everyone is unique. Each person comes with their own story, their own relationship to food, their own coping mechanisms, unique biology, unique lifestyle. My job is to help you heal your relationship with food, your body & your health. You may be surprised when other parts of you (emotionally, spiritually) start to heal as well.
I want to empower you with all the tools & knowledge you need to make decisions about what you eat for the rest of your life. I don’t want you to count calories or macros, I don’t want you to deprive yourself of your favorite foods. I want you to LOVE what you’re eating every day because it tastes amazing and makes you feel even better.
I want you to know you don’t have be experiencing a total breakdown in health to seek assistance in rebuilding your relationship with food. Some of us do experience health crises and that’s okay. That’s your body talking to you loud and clear. But sometimes the voice is quiet. You want to respond to it, but don’t know how. What you’re eating every single day is the first step.
Other conditions I work with: diabetes prevention and management, healing the gut, autoimmune conditions, endometriosis, PCOS, depression, anxiety, brain health & aging gracefully.
